LFV Association Meeting
June 24, 2017

Hello Campers,

Grab a glass of wine, settle into a comfy chair, and dive in to the latest installment of the LFV Association Meeting Minutes.  It's a page turner.

We opened the meeting with a warm welcome to the 50 people who were in attendance.  At the last August meeting, Chip had led a motion to say the Pledge of Allegiance at the beginning of each Association meeting going forward, and so he brought his flag and led the group in the pledge to kick off Summer 2017.

We asked that if there was anyone new to the Village or to the meeting, to make themselves known.  Apparently rumors of hazing have spread and no one came forward.

Going into this summer without many of our loved ones, we held a moment of silence to remember those campers that we lost over the past year.

Meghan read the minutes from the August 2016 meeting.  It took forever.  A lot happened then.  You should probably make sure you attend the August meeting this year to get a riveting recap of this meeting’s highlights. Despite her incessant rambling, there was a motion to approve the minutes and in a stunning twist, it was seconded and approved.

Paul Dynan read the Treasurer’s report, which will be prominently displayed on the bulletin board in the Hall.  We spent money last year, we made money last year, and we’ll do it over again if all goes according to plan.  There was a motion to approve the Treasurer’s report, and it was seconded and approved.

At this moment a car speeds by going at LEAST 8 mph… which reminds the group of our 5mph speed limit.  Have you heard of it?  It’s this thing, where the cars have to go 5mph, and it feels really slow, but it’s for everyone’s safety.  Ride the brakes, people, ride the brakes.

Messages from Marlene:

Marlene wants to remind us of the following housekeeping items:

-       Keep your water box clear

-       Don’t leave your boat trailer at the little beach

-       Make sure your boat/ kayak/ sea vessel is tied down and kept in its place

-       Here’s a tide chart: http://www.littlefieldsonline.com/documents/tides_2017.pdf

-       Don’t speed

-       Keep your renters in line.  If you need a copy of the renters rules, click here (pg. 6): http://www.littlefieldsonline.com/documents/villagerules.pdf

-       Make sure all your friends, family, guests, and the Pizza Napoli deliveryman know the rules of the Village.  It’s everyone’s responsibility.

Old Business:

-       50/50: All meeting attendees were locked in the hall until the 50/50 bins were claimed for each section.  There was confusion around where to bring the money after it’s collected – bring it to the hall!

-       Boats + Little Beach:  Do you have a boat?  Make sure it’s tied up and organized.  Every summer there are many boats that never make it into the water – we wonder if people even remember they have a boat.  If you have a boat that you want to get rid of, talk to someone on the board. We will help you part ways!  In other news, shout out to Chip for doing some mowing earlier in the season down at the beach. This will make things easier for Little Beach Cleanup, which will be held on Sat. July 1st at 9:30 am

-       Boat Stickers:  We still have them, and they are available down at the Hall.  Feel free to come by and purchase a chocolate éclair and a packet of M&M’s, and pick up your boat sticker free with purchase.  (Ok, free without purchase as well).  We will have boat stickers on hand during beach cleanup.

-       LFV Online:  littlefieldsvillage.com hasn’t been updated in a while (sorry!) so most content comes through the social media pages and email.  If you’d like to see the website as your primary source of LFV content, let us know and we can work on it.

-       Merch:  We will continue to sell pint glasses, sweatshirts, stickers, t-shirts, etc. this year with the LFV branding.  Pick up yours today. Only the cool kids wear LFV gear.

-       Halloween Display:  Congrats to J. Hurley and crew (shout out to Mike and Charlie for all of their skills and ingenuity) on their 1stplace win in the OGT Scarecrow Contest this year – it’s a 5-peat!  There was a motion made to give a donation of the same amount as last year to the Halloween committee.  It was seconded, approved, and then amended to an “up to $500” as John declares this year’s display is going to be “smaller” and “less intricate”.  I’ll believe it when I see it.

-       Candy Store:  Shout out to Sean McCarthy for making the trek to the BJ’s for the hall candy.  Just a reminder… anyone can open the hall! Take a turn.  Do it for the kids.

-       Hall Library: Unfortunately it has become a mess again. Please do not just dump your books in front of the shelves – put them away neatly!  And if you DO leave a pile of books, try not to leave a bookmark of your grandchild’s wedding photo in the cover… that’s evidence!

-       Private Street:  A snowplow knocked off the “private street” sign in front of the village over the winter.  We will mention it to Marlene so it can be replaced and keep out the hoodlums.

-       More tables:  There was a motion to purchase 4 new plastic tables for the Field Day pie-eating contest and other village events. Chip will be willing to go down and get them in BJ’s.  Motion was seconded and approved.

-       Paul Dynan:  Paul will step down from his Treasurer’s role after this season.  While these are extremely large shoes to fill, we hope to do so with a member of the village.  The Association will choose a person for the role by the end of the summer.  We have had some inquiries already, but if you want to get involved, please contact a current member of the board.  Duties include counting money, giving people money, taking people's money, and being the keeper of the money.

New Business (aka. The Fun Stuff):
